travel necessity { the smoking slipper }

travel essential { the smoking slipper }

While I love my heels, you will not catch me in them while travelling. One of my favorite footwear trends as of late is the smoking slipper; a great way to add a touch of masculine to your outfit in a subtle and stylish way. Plus they’re comfortable - the second most important factor when dressing for travel. Speaking of, off to Dallas friends! Happy Monday. xx

design { Workstead, The Wythe Hotel }

“Beauty rests in utility”; a Shaker motto that encapsulates the work of Brooklyn-based design collaborative, Workstead. With a modern, bohemian aesthetic flanked by rich millwork, raw finishes and custom lighting, the trio (Stefanie Brechbuehler, Robert Andrew Highsmith, and Ryan Mahoney) has quickly garnered a great deal of demand and press for the beautiful environments they create. Their first commercial project, the Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn (above), perfectly represents the vision and aesthetic of the firm. I’m enamored with the custom cast-iron chandeliers (made in-house by Highsmith). Gorgeous.

travel essential { the blazer }

I’m off to L.A. this morning, this time for business. One of the most essential items in my suitcase, whether the purpose of the trip be work or play is the blazer; pull jeans, a v-neck tee and flats together for the airport, pair with a pencil skirt or trousers for meetings, and the perfect topper over a cute dress in the evening. Classic navy is my favorite, but this fall I look forward to adding rich jewel tones and leather to my collection.
