delft blue

image

Two years ago, my girlfriends surprised me with a gorgeous vintage tea set in delft blue with gold trim; it was love at first sight. Delftware, denoting blue and white pottery dating back to 1500’s Netherlands, has long been a source of inspiration in the fashion and design world. The fall 2013 runway saw Valentino resurrect the print beautifully; the same print that he used in the 1968 fall collection that propelled him to international stardom. I’m currently daydreaming of the Étoile Isabel Marant shift above and a summer garden party; the perfect excuse to use my pretty little tea set.

Name: Hedvig Opshaug
Occupation: Fashion blogger; former model
Style: Clean, minimalist
Signature: Juxtaposition of masculine-feminine

This is the first time I have featured a blogger as my bi-weekly stylish muse, but Norwegian-born Hedvig Opshaug of Northern Light is definitely worthy of recognition. My favorite style blog discovery of the year, Hedvig chronicles her chic, minimalistic fashion characteristic of highly-admired Scandinavian street style. Her ability to mix masculine pieces such as oversized jackets and ball caps with feminine skirts and accessories is insurmountable; an end result which is always polished and just plain pretty.
