delft blue

Two years ago, my girlfriends surprised me with a gorgeous vintage tea set in delft blue with gold trim; it was love at first sight. Delftware, denoting blue and white pottery dating back to 1500’s Netherlands, has long been a source of inspiration in the fashion and design world. The fall 2013 runway saw Valentino resurrect the print beautifully; the same print that he used in the 1968 fall collection that propelled him to international stardom. I’m currently daydreaming of the Étoile Isabel Marant shift above and a summer garden party; the perfect excuse to use my pretty little tea set.

Vibrant colour, mixed prints and accessories galore, Anna Dello Russo’s quirky and adventurous style is all over this Vogue Nippon May editorial. Shot by Giampaolo Sgura featuring models Magdalena Frackowiak and Suzana and Suzane Massena, the spread feeds my summer loving, print adoring soul.

Yes, more florals. What can I say? Spring is in the air, friends! I love this spread from the May 2009 issue of Canadian House & Home on Vancouver-based artist Bobbie Burgers’ Okanagan weekend home. The vibrant yellow fused throughout the clean, modern space, largely through the artist’s own lush, floral canvases, creates an appropriately warm, cheery environment ideal for weekend entertaining in sunny Okanagan.
